SDI Video Inputs
4 x 10-bit SD-SDI, HD-SDI and 6G‑SDI.
Blackmagic MultiView 4 has four independent 6G‑SDI inputs that work with all SD, HD and Ultra HD formats up to 2160p30. The included Ethernet remote control software lets you turn on audio meters, select audio to output, and create custom labels. MultiView 4 displays your sources in a standard 2x2 grid. You can also add a Teranex Mini Smart Panel for full front panel control and rack mount it using the optional Teranex Mini Rack Shelf!
Multi view monitoring is perfect for massive control rooms with lots of incoming feeds, for live multi camera production or for use on location and in tight spaces that don’t have room for multiple monitors. With Blackmagic MultiViews you don’t need to connect multiple monitors, dozens of cables or run extra power to see all of your video sources! Simply plug your cameras, decks, switchers and routers into the SDI connections to see everything with amazing clarity and detail on a single HD or Ultra HD monitor!
Each view on a Blackmagic MultiView works as a completely independent video monitor. You get full frame re‑synchronization on all SDI inputs, which means that they can be any video standard and frame rate, and each input is completely independent of the others. You can mix any combination of referenced or non-referenced NTSC, PAL, 720p, 1080i, 1080p, and Ultra HD up to 2160p30 on some models, all on the same display at the same time! It's like getting 4 or 16 independent monitors in one!
All Blackmagic MultiView models work with HD displays, while the 6G-SDI models also work with Ultra HD displays, so you get maximum compatibility with your existing equipment. That means you can use regular HD displays but you also have the choice to use an Ultra HD monitor for incredible sharpness! Ultra HD has four times the number of pixels of regular HD, so your video will look sharper and clearer than ever before! What this means is when displaying the 2x2 view on an Ultra HD monitor, each view is a full 1920 x 1080 HD resolution with no scaling! MultiView includes both SDI and HDMI outputs so you can connect to televisions, video projectors, broadcast monitors and more!
Blackmagic MultiViews feature advanced monitoring tools that can be displayed with your video. You get custom labels, audio meters, tally indicators and more! You can also choose which audio source is routed to the video output. The on screen source labels have a subtle, elegant design and resize proportionally based on the selected layout. In addition, you get anamorphic support in standard definition so you can view 16 x 9 anamorphic video sources in widescreen.
Blackmagic MultiView models feature multi rate SDI inputs with full frame re-synchronization and some models also have separate loop through outputs, making them compatible with your existing equipment. The SDI inputs automatically detect and re-sync SD and HD formats, plus some models also re-sync Ultra HD formats up to 2160p30. You get HDMI and SDI output, and MultiView 16 also includes a reference input connection and blackburst/tri-level sync for studio installations.
The tough metal mini converter style design of MultiView 4 HD makes it perfect for use on the road or in tough broadcast environments. Simply plug in your sources and start monitoring! The MultiView 4 works with HD or Ultra HD and features a Teranex Mini style design which means you can use it rack mounted or on a desktop. You can add an optional front panel or use Ethernet for more control options.
Blackmagic MultiView 4 handles 4 sources in an incredibly compact size, however if you have more sources, you can combine multiple MultiViews together to create customized displays! Simply daisy chain two together by connecting the output of one MultiView 4 to one of the inputs on another. That means you can now monitor seven sources at once, all on the same display! There’s no limit to how many units you can combine together to create your own customized display!
Blackmagic MultiView 4 works with the optional Teranex Mini Smart Panel so you can add front panel controls to your MultiView 4! Installation is as simple as swapping the front panel and, once installed, it’s even easier to set up and adjust settings on the fly! The Smart Panel features dedicated buttons, a built in LCD screen and a spin knob so you can turn on custom labels, audio meters, borders, tally and more! You can even adjust settings such as the IP address and output video format right from the front panel!
MultiView 4 is the same size as Blackmagic Design’s Teranex Mini range of 12G-SDI converters. This means you can use the Teranex Mini Rack Shelf for rack mounting the MultiView 4 and even combine multiple MultiView 4 models on the same rack shelf, or combine with a mix of Teranex Mini converters and MultiViews. The choice is yours! If you are in critical broadcast environments where you need to be able to change settings at any time then you can also add the Teranex Mini Smart Panel. This gives you full access to all MultiView 4 settings in easy to use graphical menus that are simpler and faster to use than the switches on the default panel.
With three great models to choose from, Blackmagic MultiViews can be used for any job and in any location! MultiView 4 models are small enough to be installed anywhere, even behind monitors or at the back of equipment racks using the optional rack shelf! When you have more than four sources, you can connect multiple MultiView 4s together, or use MultiView 16 for larger installations, and you can control them with a hardware control panel or remotely over Ethernet!
Now you can monitor all of your cameras on a single television while on location or in the field to get a simple live production workflow. Blackmagic MultiViews are compact, lightweight and portable, making them perfect for fly away kits or broadcast trucks used for live production work! The Ultra HD models give you higher resolution monitoring and amazing clarity so you can accurately check camera focus and see technical issues, which is super important when you're doing critical live production work!
Blackmagic MultiView simplifies your multi camera studio production by consolidating all sources onto a single, high resolution Ultra HD display! Monitor cameras, see SDI tally, and quickly check for matching color, exposure and focus. With a single, high resolution display you get incredible clarity and never have to worry about calibrating multiple monitors again. You’ll be able to quickly see if the color on one camera is different and fix it before it becomes a problem!
The super compact design of Blackmagic MultiView 4 shares the same modern design as our Teranex Mini converters. MultiView 4 is so small you can fit 3 of them side by side in a single rack space using the optional Teranex Mini Rack Shelf. You get the same professional connections and broadcast electronics as the larger MultiView 16, in an extremely portable design that can be hidden behind monitors, in the back of racks, or on a desktop. MultiView 4 can even be powered over Ethernet from a PoE+ switch so you get fully redundant power! Plus, you can add front panel controls by installing the optional Teranex Mini Smart Panel!
Blackmagic MultiView 4 and 16 can be connected to a standard Ethernet IP network and uses Bonjour so it’s automatically recognized by Mac and Windows computers running the control panel software! That means you can control them remotely, even if they're in a hard to reach rack, hidden in cable trays, or on the other side of the world! The software uses attractive, easy to understand icons and push buttons, making it simple and intuitive to use. You can easily add router labels to your outputs, view tally indicators and more!
The future proof design of Blackmagic MultiView includes multi rate SDI inputs with low jitter and automatic frame re‑synchronization on all inputs. Each loop output is also re‑clocked so you can put MultiView in line with other SDI equipment such as a live production switcher for camera source monitoring, or to view the output of other SDI equipment without having to use up additional dedicated router outputs. You get HDMI and either 3G-SDI or 6G-SDI outputs for use with HD or Ultra HD, depending on the model. MultiView 16 even has an extra HD-SDI output so you can monitor both HD and Ultra HD at the same time!
All Multiview models support 90V to 240V AC so they can be used anywhere internationally and will just work when plugged in. Often broadcast trucks and fly away kits need to be moved between countries that operate under different voltages, and now it’s easy to do that because rack mount models include a premium multi voltage power supply that’s able to handle a wide range of voltages and the HD model includes a power supply with international power adapters. MultiView 4 can also be powered over Ethernet when connected to a PoE+ compatible switch!
